New Awards for the Academy

The Kokoro Academy has again been recognised by the Educational Funding Company with 2 awards. For the fifth straight year one of our Instructors, this time Kathryn Pawson has been awarded Most Inspirational Instructor of the Year Award. Jayne Pawson was also awarded for the 3rd straight year Program Director of the Year Award, this is a fantastic achievement.

This years award ceremony was held in Washington D.C. unfortunately this year we were unable to attend the ceremony, but the awards arrived at the Academy this week and are now on display in reception.

New Junior Shodans in the Academy

Saturday the 23rd October saw three students attempt their Junior Shodans. The testing started at 9:45am and their test finished at 4:10pm.

After completing 800 pressups, situps and squats and all required techniques they were awarded their Junior Black Belts.

The successful students were, Bradley, Aileen and Callum.

Bank Holiday Weekend

This weekend the Academy will be closed for the bank holiday.

The Academy will close at 9pm on Thursday 26th August and will reopen on the 1st September at 10:15am.

Saturday 4th September there will be an Instructor training and Staff meeting at 12:15pm

Taekwondo and Kickboxing gradings

Yesterday evening 4th August saw the Taekwondo and Kickboxing gradings taking place at the Academy in Dewsbury.

Congratulations to everyone who took part and passed their respective grading.

A photo will be added later showing all who took part in the grading session.

Welcome to the Kokoro Academy of Martial Arts Blog Page

This is the first Blog for the Kokoro Academy of Martial Arts.

Over the next few months we will endeavor to keep everyone up to date in what is occuring in the Academy.

This weekend 31st July sees the first Fight Team training, this is open to anyone in the Academy to come along and train. The cost for the session is £5. Everyone who becomes a member of the Fight Team will be able to compete in regional and national champrionships if they wish to, and will be fully supported by the Academy.

Sunday 1st August sees the Academy holding a seminar covering Weapon and runs from 11am til 3pm, when there will be a BBQ, open to all students over the age of 15 and the cost for the session is £20 and includes BBQ.

Next week commencing Monday 2nd August 10:15am - 12:15pm sees the annual Summer School in the Academy and is for anyone aged 4 years upwards to 16 years old, each day has a different theme, cost per day is £12 or £50 for the whole week.
